Volunteer Information and Requirements

2016-2017 School Year

OUSD Volunteer Information

Parents can fill out the OUSD volunteer form HERE.

Clearance Requirements

  • Parents / Guardians need TB clearance as long as they are supervised by an OUSD staff member for the entire time that they’re volunteering (ex. in the classroom).
  • Parents / Guardians wanting to work alone with students unsupervised (ex: one-on-one tutoring, chaperoning an overnight field trip and/or driving students to a field trip) must complete the live scan fingerprint clearance as well. Volunteers who are fully cleared in this way will be given a badge and lanyard to wear while volunteering to denote their clearance level.

Fingerprinting office is conveniently located in Downtown Oakland at 1814 Franklin Street, Suite 618, Oakland (at the corner of 19th & Franklin Streets) and one block from the 19th Street BART Station. Please bring the Request for Live Scan Service form (downloadable here) and ID. The price is $35. They are open Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm. No appointment is necessary Monday – Friday. They are also open on Saturday from 9 am – 12:30 pm, but appointments are required. Appointments can be made online at www.fingerprintingappointment.com.
